Musicians Mature at Chehalis Middle School

A group of students practice musical instruments in a band room.

A group of people in blue shirts and Santa hats pose with a banner that reads 'Caribbean Breeze Steel Band'.

A conductor leads a youth orchestra in a school gymnasium.

A choir performs on stage, with a conductor leading the group.

The music program at Chehalis Middle School allows our student musicians to experience some new types of music as well as being exposed to what music in the high school level is all about. In addition to band, choir and orchestra, students have the opportunity to take guitar and ukulele as a musical elective or play for the Caribbean Breeze Steel Pan Band or the Chehalis Middle School Jazz Band. Besides regular concerts for their peers and families, Chehalis Middle School musicians also get to take their music outside our walls. Some of our musicians get the chance to:

  • Travel to regional competitions and music festivals
  • Perform for community and regional events
  • Collaborate and learn from our high school musicians
  • Be inspired by professional musical performances and events
